WINTER HOME MAINTENANCE

Maintaining a manufactured home is crucial for ensuring its longevity and safety. Here are the top 10 areas to check regularly:

Roof: Inspect for damage, wear, and leaks. Check for missing or cracked shingles and apply sealant as needed.

Skirting and Underbelly: Look for cracks or holes that could allow moisture or pests to enter. Ensure proper insulation and plumbing.

HVAC System: Replace air filters regularly, clean vents and ducts, and schedule annual professional inspections.

Plumbing: Check for leaks, drips, or corrosion in pipes and fixtures. Insulate pipes to prevent freezing.

Outside Water Taps: Have you turned off your outdoor taps and covered them with a Cold Weather Faucet Cover? and last but not least, make sure your hoses are drained and put away.

Foundation: Inspect for cracks, shifts, or signs of instability. Ensure the home is level and re-level if necessary.

Exterior: Check windows, doors, and seams for gaps or cracks. Use caulk or sealant to keep the home energy-efficient.

Gutters and Downspouts: Clean regularly to prevent water overflow and damage to the roof, siding, and foundation.

Electrical Systems: Ensure all outlets and connections are in good condition and free from damage.

Fire Safety: Check smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are functioning properly.

Pest Control: Inspect for signs of pests and take preventive measures to keep them out.

Regular maintenance of these areas will help keep your manufactured home in great shape and prevent costly repairs down the road.
